Thinking ahead for Europe - CEPS is now on Substack!
The Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) is excited to announce the launch of 'Thinking ahead for Europe', our new Substack channel.
As the oldest think tank in Brussels (we’ve been around since 1983), CEPS has always aimed to provide independent, rigorous and forward-looking analysis on the key challenges facing Europe. Our Expert Commentaries, Explainers, Policy Briefs and In-Depth Analyses (which can all be found on the CEPS website) are the backbone of how we inform and engage with our key audiences.
So, why add Substack to the mix?
Because the policy conversation today is faster, more dynamic and increasingly shaped by platforms that allow for direct and immediate engagement with readers. For years already we’ve been harnessing social media (specifically LinkedIn, X and BlueSky) and Substack, as one of the most rapidly growing publishing platforms for writers, researchers and institutions alike, is a natural next step. It gives us a way to reach our audiences directly via their inboxes – without filters or algorithms – but also to connect with new readers beyond our existing channels and the ‘Brussels Bubble’.
That’s why Thinking ahead for Europe will complement our core publications. Here, we’ll be working to share two main types of content with you:
Original insights: Short, accessible reflections from CEPS researchers reacting quickly to major events or unpacking a fresh angle from our latest work. At the same time, readers can expect the same independence, intellectual rigour and policy relevance that define all CEPS output.
Updates and highlights: Information on our upcoming events, editorial roundups and occasional behind-the-scenes perspectives on our ongoing projects.
This new endeavour also allows us not only to share our research more directly but also to find fresh ways to make complex European debates more accessible to policymakers, stakeholders, journalists and anyone out there who’s interested to learn more about the EU and the complex machinations of European policymaking. Through Substack, we can connect with a wider community of writers, broaden the debate and contribute to the development of fresh, concrete policy ideas.
We’re excited to explore what this platform can add to the ongoing policy debate and we’re looking forward to developing it together with our (hopefully growing) community of readers. Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll be publishing regular posts and continuing to refine this new channel as part of CEPS’ broader mission – to provide sound, independent analysis and ideas that can help Europe to successfully tackle its most pressing challenges.
We invite you to subscribe (it’s free!), follow along and join us in thinking ahead for Europe (and beyond).
